Food shortage crisis looming over Donbas - UN OCHA
Approximately a quarter of the residents of Luhansk and Donetsk regions of Ukraine, occupied by Russia-supported militants, are experiencing food shortage, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs wrote in a report.
According to the preliminary assessments of the level of food security, some 800,000 residents of Donetsk and Luhansk regions are experiencing food shortage, with 170,000 of them being in dire need of food supply.
A particularly grave situation is observed in Donetsk region.
EU mulls EUR 50 mln humanitarian, infrastructure aid for Ukraine - HahnAs reported by the UN, the territories of said regions under government control are also facing food shortage issues: over the past year, the share of those experiencing food shortage has doubled - from 7% to 15%.
