The Naftogaz Ukrainy and Gazprom companies signed a technical agreement on gas transit, said the Ukrainian president’ s representative on international energy security Bogdan Sokolovsky, speaking live on the ICTV television network, ITAR-TASS reported.
According to the representative, the agreement “we have been waiting for three months”, was signed in Moscow on Monday.
On January 19, the heads of Gazprom and Naftogaz signed a contract of purchase-sale of Russian gas for 2009-2019 in the presence of the Russian and Ukrainian premiers. The sides agreed that Ukraine would receive a 20-percent discount for natural gas under condition of preserving the tariff of pumping Russian gas for European buyers in 2009 at the 2008 price.
As a result of reached understandings, Kyiv and Moscow turned down services of intermediaries in the gas sphere.
