President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko calls on the central bank of Ukraine to guarantee fulfillment of decisions in order to resume cooperation with the International Monetary Fund.
According to an UNIAN correspondent, he said this to a press conference in Baku on Friday, where he is paying an official visit.
Victor Yushchenko noted that he would meet with the IMF leadership on Friday when he returns in Kyiv.
According to the President, IMF should receive from the c.bank and the government a decision about the approaches that would allow the fund to resume financing.
He stressed that the IMF mission had left Ukraine due to the previous unconstructive approach, and Ukraine lost its regular loan. “I call on both the government and the central bank to act not as populists but as professionals”, he said.
According to Victor Yushchenko, the matter concerns several blocks of issues. The first of them is to introduce amendments into the state budget in order to guarantee the country’s financial stability. Another question to be solved is the budget of Naftohaz Ukrayiny NJSC, Victor Yushchenko noted. He pointed out again that this sector must be reformed.
