President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko demands the government to immediately turn Odessa-Brody oil pipeline into an obverse regime.
According to an UNIAN correspondent, he said this to a session devoted to working out a common position of all power branches concerning the further efficient promotion of the idea of Eurasian Oil-Transport Corridor.
“I demand the government to immediately transfer Odessa-Brody oil pipeline into the designed regime of its use – the obverse regime”, the President stressed.
At the same time, Victor Yushchenko called on the Cabinet of Ministers to follow national interests when making this decision.
“I understand that there were and still are political reasons to block this decision, but today I apply to the common sense and national interests. I’m confident that the government will have courage and wisdom to make the respective decision”, he said.
Victor Yushchenko recalled that during their meeting on April 9, President of Azerbaijan Ilkham Aliyev confirmed readiness of the Azeri side to supply Caspian oil for the needs of the Ukrainian and European markets. At the same time, he also said ready to supply oil for technical needs to launch the oil pipeline in the obverse regime. “So now it is up to the Ukrainian side to decide”, the President of Ukraine emphasized.
