Ukraine’s President Viktor Yushchenko has, by a special order, fired Microsoft’ founder Bill Gates from the Foreign Investment Council of Ukraine, MosNews reported.

Bill Gates agreed to enter the Investment Council in 2005, while he was still CEO of Microsoft Corporation. In 2008, he left his post with Microsoft to work for the Bill&Melinda Gates Foundation.

Together with Gates, Yushchenko dismissed from the council`s board his main political rival, head of the Regions party Viktor Yanukovych, the Economy Minister Anatoly Kinakh and several other people, website reports Tuesday citing Yushchenko’s order.

Instead, Yushchenko had head of the Ukrainian parliament Volodymyr Lytvyn, Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko and head of the President’s secretariat Vira Ulyanchenko included on the Council board.

The Foreign Investment Council of Ukraine is a consultative body established in Ukraine in 1997 to advise the president and the government on issues of foreign investment.
