Oldest tree is defined in Ukraine

Census and defining action of the oldest tree in Ukraine started in Ukraine.

The Cherkassy Oblast Department of forestry and hunting economy disclosed this to an UNIAN correspondent that Kyiv ecological-cultural center carries out this measure. One of the pretenders to the oldest tree are thousand-year pistachio tree from Nikitskiy botanical garden, thousand-year oak of Zheleznyak, which is at the National historical-cultural reserve “Chigirin” (the Cherkassy Oblast, ancient oak from Velikobereznyanskyi region of the Zakarpattya Oblast.

The final results of defining of the oldest trees will be announced after expedition to Crimea in autumn, where ecologists will observe juniper.
