Ukrainian Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych discussed the completion of Ukraine`s accession to the WTO with WTO Director General Pascal Lamy at a meeting within the frameworks of the World Economic Forum in Davos today.

    According to the government’s press-service, Victor Yanukovych claimed at the meeting that the government is making a final effort to enter the organization.

     “The government and the coalition have united the society and lawmakers on the idea of the WTO entry. WTO accession will provide Ukraine with the prospects to create a free trade zone with the European Union”, he said.

     Yanukovych invited Lamy to hold a ceremony adopting Ukraine to the organization in Kyiv.

     Ukraine tops the list of 23 countries awaiting WTO membership, Lamy said, adding that there are no serious problems that could hinder accession.
