Deputies of the Luhansk Oblast Council unanimously decided to give a regional status to the Russian language in the Oblast.

      According to an UNIAN correspondent, this decision was made at the Oblast Council’s session today.

      With the same decision, the deputies proposed to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to take measures to fulfill the European Charter of regional languages or the languages of minorities.

      The deputies also ordered permanent commissions for the issues of deputies’ ethics, legality, and information, to analyze the conditions of the Russian language use at the territory of the Oblast.
