According to Hydrometeorological Center of Ukraine, dusty storms on March 22-24 damaged grain enterprises in the Southern regions of Ukraine, according to APK-Inform.
According to representative of Center, almost all southern oblasts of the country (Kherson oblast, some regions of Odessa, Dnepropetrovsk, Nikolaev, Zaporozhye) were damaged. Winter crops have been covered with sand and soil, they noticed mechanical destructions. Seeds of spring crops have been blowed out on many fields. The wind speed was up to 40 m/c.
In addition, moisture content in soil is not satisfactory. Due to all these factors we may expect reducing of grains yield.
Reference of APK-Inform. According to Hydrometeorological Center of Ukraine, acreage under winter crops in Kherson oblast is 445.600 ha (6.4% of the total acreage under winter crops), the share of winter rapeseeds is 65.900 ha (8% of total acreage under winter rapeseeds).
