President Victor Yushchenko on Wednesday suggested signing a cooperation memorandum during his meeting with Ukraine’s business leaders, according to the President`s press-office.  He said the document was aimed at improving the country’s business climate and ensuring that the national economy grows steadily.

Yushchenko thanked the businessmen for their proposals and ideas on how to develop the national stock market, introduce a land market, improve regulatory policies, prevent business raids and protect property rights.

“These thoughts are absolutely statesmanlike, both in their role and significance,” he said, adding that his next meetings with Ukraine’s tycoons, which will be held once every quarter, would focus on one of these issues.

The president asked his first deputy chief of staff, Oleksandr Shlapak, to set up a special group to formulate an agenda for their next meetings. “If initiatives are put forth during this roundtable, there will be a response to them by parliament and the cabinet of ministers,” he said.
