Yanukovych calls on Ukrainian citizens to vote against NATO
"We must make Ukraine a territory of stability", he said
Party of Regions leader Victor Yanukovych calls on citizens of Ukraine to support the idea of the Party of Regions concerning a referendum on Russian language and NATO issues.
According to an UNIAN correspondent, Victor Yanukovych claimed this speaking at the pre-election meeting of the Party of Regions adherents in the city of Hluhiv in the Sumy Oblast.
“We began collecting signatures for carrying out the referendum. The issues that we raise are principal for us”, Victor Yanukovych stressed.
The Party of Regions leader also called on Hluhiv residents to support his political force at the parliamentary election on 30 September. “We must prevent a political destabilizing which leads to an economic destabilizing. We must make Ukraine a territory of stability. Only under such conditions we may develop the state. We will win!”, Victor Yanukovych claimed.
As UNIAN reported earlier, the Party of Regions put forward an initiative to carry out a referendum on the issues of the Russian language status, NATO, and direct election of Oblast and district leadership.
