Victims of Ukraine`s Great Famine to be commemorated in Brussels
The artificial hunger killed from up to 10 million Ukrainians
On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of Holodomor / Artificial Hunger in Ukraine of 1932-33 the religious service accompanied and followed by ORGAN AND CHORAL PERFORMANCE will be organized by the Mission of Ukraine to the EU and Brussels Parish of Ukrainian Greco-Catholic Church.
According to the Mission’s information, the event is to commemorate the victims of the artificial hunger, undertaken by the regime of Joseph Stalin within the implementation of the Soviet project. This resulted in famine with between 7 to 10 million Ukrainians, mostly peasants, starving to death in the very country known as "the breadbasket of Europe."
Ukraine believes that the facts of mass annihilation, performed by totalitarian regimes in the past, must be condemned by the international community in order to prevent such crimes at present or in the future. That`s why today Ukraine, attracting public attention to Holodomor, urges the international community to support the longing of Ukrainians and their friends for uncovering the truth and to recognise this historical fact as a genocide against the Ukrainian people.
