6 billion hryvnias are necessary to speed up transferring the Ukrainian army to a contract basis since 2008.
Petro Batman, ex-top deputy of the Defense Ministry’s Financial Department and ex-chief councilor of the Presidential Administration, claimed this to a press conference in UNIAN today.
“To provide a speedy transferring to a contract army basis, we need some 6 billion hryvnias”, he said.
He noted that only 150 million hryvnias are stipulated in 2008 for solving the dwelling problem of military men, as a result of which, this problem will not be solved in the nearest 40 years, he stressed.
According to P.Batman, first of all, it is necessary to find some 500 million hryvnias for remunaration to military men for leasing dwelling.
He pointed out that, in line with the government’s decree, next year an officer will receive from 700 US dollars, and a contract serviceman – from 300 US dollars.
