Attempts to recognize Holodomor as genocide not aimed against other states - Yushchenko
President opens memorial in Popilnya
President Victor Yushchenko took part in the opening of memorable sign commemorating Holodomor victims in Popilnya village, according to the President`s press-office.
“By means of this sign we honor those Ukrainians, who were guiltlessly slaughtered” – President said during the ceremony. He also emphasized that it is very important that we unveil the truth about that tragedy and hand it down to future generations.
According to V. Yushchenko true history unites a nation. He also mentioned that our search for truth and attempts to recognize Ukraine’s Soviet-era famine as genocide are in no way aimed against other states or nations. “Revival of our heritage is not aimed against anyone. We don’t want to humiliate any of nations or states.”
