Justice Minister Oleksander Lavrynovych supports initiative of President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko to introduce a criminal responsibility for denying Holodomor.
According to an UNIAN correspondent, O.Lavrynovych said this to journalists in Kyiv today.
“My personal stance is that it must be done, and it must be done in such a way so that it is accepted by citizens”, O.Lavrynovych said.
In his opinion, the introduction of criminal responsibility for denying Holodomor must be carried out in line with a certain plan. “It must be done so that people themselves become participants of this process. And the final decision, which will be adopted in parliament, must be logical and do not provoke a resistance of people in this important, sensitive, and nationwide topic, which is tragic”, he added.
The Justice Minister stressed that the topic of Holodomor is the topic of Ukrainian unity.
