As of today, there are more than 2546 NGOs of all-Ukrainian status, 929 charitable organizations and 141 political parties in Ukraine. Besides, more than 22 thousand local unions of citizens, more than 4 thousand local charitable organizations are legalized, and more than 154 thousand structural unions of political parties are registered by local justice bodies.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Justice, Minister of Justice Oleksandr Lavrynovytch said this during the Second regional congress of non-governmental organizations; the congress started its work on November 25 in Kyiv.
According to the words of the Minister of Justice, the non-governmental organizations of professional direction are actively created in Ukraine – unions of doctors, teachers, legislators, tax employees etc.. More than 400 of them were legally registered in 2007 in Ukraine (more than 236 – in 2006). The next in the social activity rating are non-governmental organizations in the sphere of health improving and sports: more than 300 of such organizations were legally registered in Ukraine in 2007 (more than 335 – in 2006). The Minister of Justice said that among the most popular NGOs, there are also youth organizations (180 registered in 2007, 192 –in 2006), organizations of veterans and invalids (115 – in 2007, 114 – in 2206), educational (114 – in 2007, 108 – in 2006), national and friendly ties organizations (72 – in 2007, 60 – in 2006) and etc.
O. Lavrynovytch noted that, as of today, the general structure of NGOs in Ukraine completely meets the structure of the non-governmental organization of Europe.
