Traffic police wants to fine drivers on roads again

This could help reduce corruption among traffic police employees, department’s chief Serhiy Kolomiyets is convinced.

The inspection system is very simple: to compare the number of orders on violations, drawn up by an inspector during a day, with the real situation. If he officially fined only one or two drivers, while they drive on the red light all the time at the given crossroads, it means that he put the fines into his pocket. Such policemen will be sacked.

Earlier President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko proposed the parliament to increase the fine for drunk driving to 2.5 thousand hryvnias [around 500 U.S. dollars].
