One Ukrainian soldier wounded in Donbas conflict zone in last day
No Ukrainian soldiers were killed but one was injured in the Donbas conflict zone over the last 24 hours, National Security and Defense Council spokesman Andriy Lysenko said at a briefing in Kyiv on Friday, according to an UNIAN correspondent.
"Over the last day, we haven’t lost any Ukrainian soldiers, but one was injured as a result of military clashes," Lysenko said.
As reported earlier, Russian-backed militants fired on the positions of the Ukrainian armed forces eight times from 2000 on Thursday to 0800 on Friday.
A ceasefire was declared again in the Donbas conflict zone on February 12, but like the previous three it has never been fully observed, and only resulted in a decrease in the fighting.
According to the Ukrainian government, Russian-backed militants have gained control of another 200 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory since February 12, when the latest ceasefire was supposed to have come into effect.
