Russian-led forces planting proscribed anti-personnel landmines in Donbas – Def. Ministry
Russian occupation forces are setting up new minefields, using anti-personnel mines prohibited by international conventions, says Press secretary of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Mykhailo Sharavara.
"The enemy is setting up additional minefields, using anti-personnel mines and improvised explosive devices proscribed by international conventions, including beyond positions," he told a briefing with reference to intelligence data.
At the same time, according to Sharavara, the invaders are using mines seized during demining in disengagement areas.
"Non-compliance by Russian mercenaries with safety measures during mining and engineering works at the front line led to the casualties among fighters of the 3rd separate motorized rifle brigade and the 9th separate motorized rifle regiment of the 1st Army Corps, and the 2nd and 4th separate motorized rifle brigades of the 2nd Army Corps of the Russian armed forces," he added.
