Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov has explained that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's decree to increase NSDC personnel by 30 people is designed to beef up cybersecurity.

"Given the strategic importance of cybersecurity in the national security system worldwide and in Ukraine, the operation of the National Coordination Center for Cybersecurity becomes one of the key activities of the NSDC of Ukraine and its tasks are significantly expanded according to the requirements of the time," he said, commenting on the presidential decree, according to the NSDC's press service.

Zelensky on January 28 signed decree No. 27/2020 to amend presidential decree No. 37 dated January 27, 2015, and decree No. 242 dated June 7, 2016.

Under the decree, NSDC personnel grew from 160 to 190 people.

New workers will be engaged in information and analytical support and will also provide expert, organizational, maintenance and other types of support for the National Coordination Center for Cybersecurity.

The center, which is headed by NSDC Secretary Danilov, is the Council's working body.
