Poroshenko says 60,000 Ukrainian soldiers serving in Donbas now
As of today, the strength of Ukrainian troops in the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) zone in eastern Ukraine has been beefed up to 60,000 men, according to Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.
"We are doing our best to ensure the security of our state. We have brought the number of our armed forces in the ATO zone to 60,000 servicemen today. There used to be not more than 30,000 of them in the peak periods in the past," Poroshenko said on the Inter TV channel on Friday evening.
According to the president, these soldiers are fully prepared and trained, including with the involvement of foreign military trainers.
As UNIAN reported earlier, Poroshenko said that the number of ATO servicemen in eastern Ukraine was 50,000 men.
