Militants intensify shelling near Trokhizbenka, destroy resident areas
Since Ukrainian Independence Day on August 24, the militant shelling in the area near the village of Trokhizbenka, Luhansk region, increased substantially, according to Ukraine Today.
Shelling comes from the direction of Slovianoserbsk, a place local residents could easily commune to just six months ago but dare no more in order not to jeopardize their lives, Ukraine Today reports.
Ukrainian forces suffered casualties here, while three soldiers were captured by militants close to the Ukrainian checkpoint.
Sniper Oleh Chepilenko was led by militants through the minefield and purposely detonated a mine, knowing of horrors of militant captivity. Two Ukrainian fighters were blown up by a mine together with the militants. One of the soldiers is being held in captivity.
