Yemen accuses Russia of alleged arms supplies to Houthi rebels
Yemen's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has accused Russia of secret arms supplies to Houthi rebels.
Yemeni Foreign Minister Riyadh Yassin said this to news agency Sputnik, according to Ukraine's Channel 5.
The minister claims that the Russian planes that arrived in Yemen to evacuate foreign citizens allegedly had arms on board, which were then handed over to rebels.
Yassin asked Moscow to explain the situation and called on the Russian authorities to refrain from interfering in the conflict in Yemen.
The Russian side has already responded to the accusations. Spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexander Lukashevich said that the information was false and the Russian aircraft had arrived in Yemen to evacuate Russian citizens from that country.
Lukashevich described the accusations as "absurd, irresponsible and provocative" and advised Yassin against "dangerous fantasizing."
