Yushchenko denies eventual placement of other countries’ military bases in Ukraine

"The national Constitution forbids it”, he said.

Ukraine does not plan to deploy other countries’ military bases at its territory.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko claimed this, delivering an opening speech at the Ukraine-NATO Commission session in Bucharest on Friday.

“Ukraine has no plans to deploy military bases of any world countries at its territory. The national Constitution forbids this”, he said.

The President stressed that Ukraine has a right to independently choose the way of its development, to defend its national security, and its vitally important interests.

Victor Yushchenko emphasized that the Euro-Atlantic aspirations of Ukraine are not aimed against any third state.
