Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine chairman Arseniy Yatseniuk proposes Russia to make a joint statement with Ukraine on Holodomor.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, the Verkhovna Rada Speaker claimed this at a meeting with regional mass media.

He noted that he had many times proposed it earlier, and is surprised that some representatives of Russia do not share this approach, because “it is a common strategy, a common page of history”. “Why should we build obstacles on this way, if we could make a common statement, which would, on the one hand, turn this tragic story, and on the other – form a very good future for our relations, as it is difficult to build the future without knowing and respecting the history”, A.Yatseniuk said.

The Verkhovna Rada Speaker added that it would be good if statements of Russian politicians about Holodomor do not make the two states sorting out their political relationships.
