Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko pledged to hold a referendum on Ukraine’s entry bid in NATO in two years. The Ukrainian president has made a statement in an interview on the Inter TV Channel on Sunday, according to Itar-Tass.

Yushchenko believes that by this time Ukraine has already put on the NATO Membership Action Plan and the Ukrainian people will receive enough information about this organisation.

The president reiterated, “Ukraine’s major goal is its membership in NATO.” In this respect, Yushchenko stressed the importatnce of the NATO summit in Bucharest, where, in his view, “all 26 countries favoured Ukraine’s future membership in NATO.”
