A group of Ukrainian tourists stuck in Nepal over the coronavirus lockdown is finally flying home, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yehor Bozhok reports.
"Finally! We succeeded due to joint efforts! A group of Ukrainian tourists is departing from Nepal. Thanks to the German Foreign Ministry for their help, thanks to Ukrainian diplomats in Kyiv and abroad for yet another professionally performed task," the deputy minister wrote on Twitter.
Earlier it was reported that 30 Ukrainians had been stuck in Nepal. A third of them are professional climbers. While other countries were evacuating their citizens, they were still storming the foothills of Everest. They say that there were unaware of the developments because for more than two weeks they had been staying in the mountains at an altitude of more than 5 kilometers. They have only found out about quarantine upon their descent.
