In a series of interviews, journalists from Russia’s independent media outlets told Reuters they rarely feel direct pressure to stick to the Kremlin’s agenda, but the authorities have enough levers, according to Ukraine Today.

Yevgenia Albats, the New Times editor in chief, says the Ukraine crisis shifted the Russian media.

She says most Russian media have simply become "propaganda machines".
