Time Magazine has named outgoing Russian President Vladimir Putin one of the

world`s 100 Most Influential People, ITAR-TASSreported.

The U.S. magazine released its annual list for 2008 on May 1.

Putin, who was Time Magazine`s person of the year for 2007, was included in the category "leaders and revolutionaries", along with the Dalai Lama; the three U.S. presidential candidates: Hillary Clinton, John McCain and Barack Obama; U.S. President George W. Bush; Chinese President Hu Jintao; African National Congress President Jacob Zuma; Iraqi Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr and other well-known political, religious and public persons.

The magazine publishes a short essay about each person. The essay about Putin was written by former U.S. State Secretary Madeleine Albright.
