Russia planned to blow up London in 1954
Russia planned to “drop nuclear bombs on London” during the Cold War, according to a top-secret letter from 1954 released by the National Archives, according to British newspaper, Ukraine Today reports.
In the article the Mirror quoted Penney as saying the bombs were so powerful they didn't need to be on target and just a handful would destroy London, according to Ukraine Today.
The revelation of the Moscow's 20th century sinister plan comes as tensions between Russia and the West are at their highest since the Cold War following Russia's annexation and invasion of eastern Ukraine, and more recently the Kremlin's military involvement in the Syrian civil war.
