French first lady Carla Bruni`s new song has left Colombia`s leaders furious, according to Sky News.

The ex-model and wife of French President Nicolas Sarkozy has been working on a new album and in one of the songs she mentions "Colombian white".

"You are my drug. More deadly than Afghan heroin. More dangerous than Colombian white," Bruni reportedly sings.

"From the mouth of the wife of the French president, this statement is very painful for Colombia," Bogota`s top diplomat Fernando Araujo said.

"Such things come out when we mix politics with theatre," he added.

Mr Araujo said that for the South American country, the world`s leading source of cocaine, consumption of the drug "translates into deaths and violence in Colombia".

"And instead of making an apology for consumption, we hope that the entire world will join us in the war against drugs," he said.

The song is on Bruni`s third album to be released in July, and was previewed for journalists recently.

It is not clear who the lyrics are describing.

Bruni`s relationship with Mr Sarkozy has caused a sensation since it first hit the headlines, with the French president being criticised for his jet-set, superstar lifestyle.

Earlier this year a controversial photograph of Bruni in the nude sold for 20 times its expected price, bagging £45,000 at Christie`s auction house.
