Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of USA to Ukraine William Taylor does not believe that any responsible government of Russia will dare to question the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
He said this in an interview with Day daily (#104 of June 13, 2008).
The Ambassador expressed doubt that the Russian leadership shares “radical statements of some politicians”. According to him, for instance, the Russian Foreign Ministry did not speak in support of statements of Moscow Mayor Luzhkov.
Speaking about the American foreign policy on the eve of the presidential election in USA, which is due to take place on November 4, the Ambassador stressed that both Presidential contenders of USA, on the whole, share the same position about Ukraine. In particular, on the eve of the Bucharest NATO Summit, both McCain and Obama, in their own initiative, issued statements in support of giving Ukraine the right to join NATO MAP.
