Newly appointed Interior Minister of Ukraine Yuri Lutsenko pledged to Prime Minister of Ukraine Victor Yanukovych that he will work on this post “to clear the society of the criminal element”.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, Yuri Lutsenko claimed this today, when PM Victor Yanukovych was introducing him on the post.

“I’m ready to work with the same energy, the same aims, as I began to work as a Minister a year ago”, Yuri Lutsenko said. He pledged to work fairly and openly for the society.

Addressing mass media, the Minister noted that his appointment into the “government of the national compromise” took place under ambiguous conditions. “I will explain later the history and reasons of this decision”, he said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Yuri Lutsenko used to claim many times that he would not work in the government of Victor Yanukovych.
