The Ukrainian Cabinet has backed Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych`s position on NATO, voiced during his visit to Brussels from September 13 to 15.

According to the government’s press-office, this decision was recorded in the protocol of the government session.

"The government has backed the prime minister`s position on NATO, as it reflects the parliamentary coalition`s common approach, laid down in the National Unity Accord, and public sentiment and the degree of awareness of NATO in Ukraine," a cabinet resolution passed on Wednesday says.

The resolution says that the Ukrainian prime minister`s position also aims "to ensure political stability in the country, to intensify relations with NATO and to implement citizens` right to make their choice."
