Victor Yushchenko has said in the capital of Belarus, Minsk, many of Ukraine’s constructive proposals were, unfortunately, rejected at today’s summit of the Commonwealth of Independent States, according to the President`s press-office.

      The President, however, added that many important decisions had been made.

      “Ukraine continues to regard the Commonwealth of Independent States as a tool of multilateral diplomacy, especially in the economic area,” he said.

      Mr. Yushchenko said his one-on-one meetings with Islam Karimov of Uzbekistan, Vladimir Voronin of Moldova, Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan, Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus and Vladimir Putin of Russia would positively affect Ukraine’s relations with these countries.
