Presidential Advisor Oleh Rybachuk met with Poland’s Defense Minister Radoslaw Sikorski on Wednesday in Riga, according to the President`s press-office.

      They spoke about how to develop ties between Ukraine and Poland and help Ukraine join the European Union and NATO.

      Mr. Rybachuk said Ukraine sought to play a more important role in the system of regional and global security.

He said NATO was the most advanced and effective system of security in the modern world, adding that “Ukraine’s NATO accession can secure our sovereignty.”

      He also said the move would help improve living standards and boost the national economy.

      “Ukraine’s integration into the Euro-Atlantic structure is a logical and consistent step on its path to the EU,” he said.

      Mr. Sikorski said Poland was Ukraine’s reliable international partner and continued to support democratic changes in our country.
