Today nobody has doubts that Ukraine stands in the way of democratic changes and Ukraine confirmed freedom of speech, Prime Minister of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych stated in his comments to journalists in Washington summing up the meeting with the United States Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, according to the press-office of the Cabinet of Ministers.

According to the Prime Minister, the meeting with the United States Secretary of State concerned Ukraine’s readiness to acceede to the World Trade Organization and in 2007 to start carrying out of global reforms including reformation of legal system, struggle against corruption and continuation of economic reform.

As the Head of Government said, implementation of these reforms by Ukraine would help to improve economic situation in our country and raise standard of living for the citizens.

Speaking about cooperation of Ukraine with NATO, Prime Minister disclosed that during the meeting with Mrs. Rice he had reaffirmed his position on the Alliance stated in Brussels. “We stated the true position in Brussels and have reaffirmed it in Washington”, Viktor Yanukovych noted.

The Head of Ukrainian Government stressed that international partners of Ukraine are in expectation of political stability in Ukraine and expressed hope that this stability would be achieved. In this context he stressed on importance of constructive relations arrangement between the President, Government and Parliament for political stability in the country.

After the meeting an inter-government Agreement on cooperation in the spheres of science and technology and Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Millenium Challenge Corp for initiating the “Threshold Program” in Ukraine aimed at supporting struggle against corruption.
