Russian general Nikolai Solovtsov, the commander of the Russian missile forces said that as a reaction to the construction of the American anti-missile shield in Poland and the Czech Republic, Russia will aim its missiles at the shield`s bases located in those countries, according to Warsaw Business Journal.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych said yesterday that the plans to locate part of American anti-missile shield in Poland and the Czech Republic put Ukraine in an uneasy position. "We are in a complex situation. We are analyzing the threats which the shield brings for Ukraine," stated Yanukovych. He added that Ukraine will adopt an official position on the issue after it receives the details of the plans from the Americans. Russia remains very critical about the project with Russia`s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov declaring, "We are seriously concerned about the plans to build the shield in Europe. We are not going to be forced into a new arms race".
