Ukrainian Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovuch and Deputy Assistant Secretary of State David Kramer discussed the situation in Ukraine and Government’s activity during the second half of 2006 and the beginning of 2007, according to the government’s press-office.

In particular, Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych noted that since his last visit to the United States in November 2006, the Government of Ukraine had succeeded to achieve positive results on budget implementation.

During this period, according to the PM, the economy grew – since August average GDP growth reached 8,2-8,3% due to this fact the year was ended with GDP growth at 7,1%.

The Prime Minister acquainted David Kramer with the Government’s decision to raise wages and pensions in April and the Cabinet’s plans on carrying out reforms in Ukraine, first of all, the judicial and tax systems.

The sides have also discussed the preparatory process of Ukraine’s accedence to the World Trade Organization, cooperation with the European Union and Ukraine‘s cooperation with the Millennium Challenge Corporation.
