New Enhanced Agreement between Ukraine and the EU should be a prototype of the European document on associate membership and provide political alliance and economic integration. Prime Minister of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych disclosed in his address to the sitting of the European Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs, according to the government’s press-office.
The Government reminded that during his first Premiership the Ukraine-EU Action Plan had been signed, and assured that during the current Cabinet Ukraine would enter the World Trade Organization, conclude new Enhanced Agreement with the EU and establish a free economic area with the European Union.
At the same time Viktor Yanukovych noted that Ukraine understands affiliation complication concerning new EU members and is ready to make a compromise in this issue. “Ukraine fully comprehends that a sign on membership prospects does not mean an automatic membership inasmuch as both sides should be ready for this step”, he stressed.
The PM expressed confidence that population of the European Union would positively accept Ukraine’s accedence to the EU and noted that Ukraine is keeping up with the discussion in the European Parliament on preparing mandate for signing new Enhanced Agreement.
