The State Civil Aviation Administration of Moldova (ASAC) informed the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) about Ukraine’s threats to ban the Moldovan aircraft from entering its airspace, according to Moldova Azi.
Ukraine asks that Moldova should give it the exclusive right to operate the flights Kiev-Chisinau-Kiev.
According to ASAC, ICAO said that the right to enter the airspace is ensured by the Convention on International Civil Aviation and by the International Air Services Transit Agreement (IASTA), which Moldova and Ukraine joined.
The two countries, as signatories of the Chicago Convention and IASTA, are obliged to honor their commitments and allow the ICAO member states to enter their airspaces.
At the same time, ASAC has reiterated its readiness to continue the talks with the Ukrainian aeronautical authorities over the Chisinau-Kiev flights.
