“In my talks last week with both political leaders, I stressed the need to avoid any type of confrontation over the issue, in the overall interest of Ukraine, its citizens and Europe as a whole. This has now been heeded, demonstrating their sense of responsibility for the future of the country. The Parliamentary Assembly and the Council of Europe will continue to offer their avalaibility in assisting Ukraine with all the instruments at the disposal of the Organisation, including in observing the elections upon invitation.”
