Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou on Wednesday said Greece may hold a referendum on the latest European aid package for Athens on Dec. 4, according to Xinhua.

"We need wide consensus (for the aid program)," Papandreou told reporters late Wednesday night, a day before the G20 summit slated for Thursday and Friday in the French resort city of Cannes.

"We are part of the eurzone," which means "many rights and many obligations," the Greek prime minister said.

"We will live up to our obligations," he said, adding that he believed the Greek people will make the "right decision" for the interest of the Greek people.
