Egypt`s Prime Minister-designate Kamal al-Ganzouri said on Thursday the new government will hopefully be formed on Saturday, according to Xinhua.

Ganzouri told a press conference that he had met six ministerial nominees and would continue consultations on the whole Friday.

"Hopefully, the new government line-up will be ready by Saturday," he said.

The 78-year-old prime minister said he had met with representatives of different political parties to know their views about the new government.

"I am now having negotiations with three of the youths from Tahrir Square for ministerial posts," he added. "There will be two females and the youths participating in the new government."

He said there would be one or two ministers from the former government before the Jan. 25 mass protests.

The price issue will be a major concern of the new government, he said. "The main objective is the public interests of the people. "

"The responsibility is huge," he added.

Chairman of the ruling Supreme Council of the Armed Forces Hussein Tantawi appointed Ganzouri last Friday as the new prime minister to form a national salvation government.

Under pressure from continued violent protests, Essam Sharaf`s cabinet submitted its resignation on Nov. 20, just about one week before the key parliamentary vote began. The military rulers approved Sharaf`s request on Nov. 22.

Ganzouri graduated from the agricultural department in Cairo University. Later he studied in an American university and got a doctor`s degree in economics. Since 1981, he took such posts as governors, minister of planning and deputy prime minister.

He led the Egyptian government under the Mubarak regime from Jan. 1996 to Oct. 1999. He was one of the major designers of the economic reforms which started in 1991.
