Deputy Defense Minister, Head of Staff Petro Mekhed says the drafted documents include the Military Doctrine, the Concept of security and defense sector development, the Concept of the state special purpose defense program for military equipment and armament development of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) for 2015-2020, as well as the Strategic defense bulletin, which has been drafted taking into account the provisions of the Military Security Strategy.
The deputy minister also stated that a draft of the state special purpose defense program for optimization and reorganization of the AFU in 2015-2017 was submitted to the Cabinet for further consideration.
When commenting on the Military Doctrine, Mekhed said that it identifies todays' main threats to the state security, determines the amount of forces and facilities needed to repel possible aggression, as well as amends the conceptual system.
