Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko has said the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the city rose by 59 in the past day.

"In the past 24 hours, the number of Kyiv residents who tested positive increased by 59, including 10 healthcare workers. Three cases were fatalities. As of today, there are 2,280 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 48 deaths, in the capital city," he wrote on Facebook on Sunday, May 17.

According to Klitschko, 34 women and 22 men are among those infected. In addition, two girls a one-year-old boy tested positive for the coronavirus.

Klitschko said 16 new patients had been hospitalized.

Two people recovered from the disease in the past day, he said. In total, 224 Kyiv residents have already recovered from the coronavirus.

As of 09:00 Kyiv time on April 10, Ukraine had confirmed 18,291 cases. Of them, 433 cases were reported in the past 24 hours, which was 95 cases down from May 16 (528 cases).
