"We have just completed the registration of the last foreign observer for the presidential election in Ukraine. In total, 2,344 observers from international organizations and foreign states will take part," adviser to the CEC head Oleksandr Ostapa wrote on Facebook.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, on February 7, 2019, passed bill No. 9524 on amendments to certain laws on observing the electoral process in Ukraine that bans citizens of the Russian Federation from being recruited as election observers for the presidential, parliamentary, and local elections in Ukraine.

On February 26, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko enacted a law that bans citizens of the Russian Federation from being hired as election observers for the presidential, parliamentary, and local elections in Ukraine.
