Poroshenko: Russia should pay if Minsk accords fail
EU sanctions should be maintained until the Minsk agreements are not fulfilled, and Russia has to pay in case of failure of the Minsk process, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said in an interview with French daily newspaper Le Figaro on December 3.
"Until the provisions of the Minsk agreements are not implemented, the European sanctions should be maintained! If the Minsk process fails, Russia will have to pay," he said.
Poroshenko rejects the arguments of those who say that sanctions do not work and have serious consequences for the European Union.
"The problem for the EU is not sanctions, but counter-sanctions imposed by Russia," the president said.
