Detectives of the SBU Security Service of Ukraine and the Territorial Administration of the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) in Mykolaiv region have revealed large-scale embezzlement at the Mykolaiv customs.

It was established that in 2018-2019, officials of the regional customs and heads of certain customs posts systematically violated anti-dumping legislation in the interests of commercial structures, the SBU said on its website on November 2.
It particular, the perpetrators underestimated tax rates groundlessly when importing mineral fertilizers from Europe. As a result, the national budget's revenue was almost UAH 10 million (US$402,901) down.
During warranted searches, law enforcers seized paperwork, proving large-scale embezzlement.
Criminal proceedings have been launched under Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (abuse of authority or office). Investigation is under way.
