"While travelling [abroad], more than 100,000 Ukrainians used biometric passports, of whom 21,200 compatriots took advantage of visa-free travel and crossed the border with biometric passports only," the border agency reported.

The others crossed the border through motorway or railway checkpoints, most of them travelled via the border with Poland (8,725 citizens) and Hungary (2,840 citizens).

At the same time, a mere 26 Ukrainian citizens have been denied entry into the EU since the EU visa waivers took effect.
